Minnesota Turkey invites all our members to attend a regional meeting in Willmar, Minnesota on Thursday, December 14, 2023. This is your opportunity to stay connected with the association and and learn industry information from speakers brought in from across the country. This meeting will be held at the MinnWest Tech Campus, 1800 Technology Dr. NE, Willmar, Minn. Please register for the event by December 11th so we can have enough lunch for everyone!

11:0a.m.     Biosecurity, the Forefront of Defense – Best Practices for an Effective Disinfection Program 

Justin SinclaireCID Lines  

Justin Sinclair is a Poultry Specialist and Account Manager for Cid Lines, an Ecolab Company, with attention on biosecurity implementation in live operations primarily through effective cleaning and disinfecting strategies. Lives in Clinton, North Carolina with his wife and 2 children. Graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science. Justin has 15+ years of experience in the poultry industry between R&D, live production, and now product and account management. Cid Lines, an Ecolab Company, is a worldwide leader in animal health and hygiene within the food and agriculture industry. 

 

11:40 p.m.        Biosecurity Measures at Turkey Farms 

Craig Duhr, Bird Control Group 

Craig has been working in the pest control industry for over 10 years. Four years ago, he began working at Bird Control Group incorporating his industry knowledge as the Midwest Sales Manager. Over the years Craig has assisted in creating specialized solutions for poultry farms and other projects across the United States. With current infectious diseases being spread from wild birds to farms, not only having environmental but financial impact, his expertise in this field allows him to navigate unique situations and create customized solutions. 

 

12:15 p.m.     NPIP and Board of Animal Health Update 

Dr. Shauna Voss, Minnesota Board of Animal Health 

Dr. Voss received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 and her Master of Public Health degree in 2011. She spent five years in private practice before joining the Minnesota Board of Animal Health in 2012 as a senior veterinarian with the poultry division. She currently oversees the permitting process for Board programs, works with Minnesota producers to ensure Board and National Poultry Improvement Plan programs requirements are met, and is the primary contact for our authorized poultry testing agents. 

 

12:45 p.m.     MTGA and Policy Update 

Ashley Kohls, Minnesota Turkey Growers and Bruce Kleven, Kleven Law Office 


Following our event, HeadStart Hatching is inviting the turkey industry to experience Next Nest Hatching systems in action at their brand new turkey hatchery (dubbed “Nest One”) prior to the operations launch on the first week of 2024! Tours will begin in the egg room and guide groups through the hatching process. Stop by to check out this state-of-the-art technology and enjoy some refreshments!
